Regular Botox Users Require Less Treatments

Botox regular usersRegular users of Botox can potentially spread apart their treatments and save some money. After two years of treatment at recommended intervals, the frequency of Botox treatments can be cut by half. That's the finding from a study done at the Oregon Health & Science University.

"After two years of treatment at recommended intervals, patients can potentially cut the frequency, and thus the cost, of their Botox® treatments by half," said Roger A. Dailey, M.D., F.A.C.S., professor and Lester Jones Endowed Chair of oculofacial plastic surgery in the OHSU School of Medicine. The results of Dailey's work were presented at a meeting of American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeon on April 24 in Washington, D.C.

Laser Body Contouring with ZERONA

The Zerona laser is the first non-invasive body contouring procedure to effectively remove excess fat. The low-level laser works by causing stored fat to be released from fat cells. Treatment involves an average of six sessions over a two week period. Patients lie on a table for 40 minutes (20 minutes front and 20 minutes back), while the laser does its job. The average result has been 3 to 9 inches lost from waists, hips and thighs with the six sessions.

Pinpointe FootLaser now available in Australia

TGA-approved PinPointe FootLaserPinPointe USA, Inc.,has announced that it's PinPointe FootLaser technology is now available in Australia. The laser kills toenail fungus infections which can be traditionally very difficult to remove. It works by passing laser light through the toenail without causing damage to the nail or the surrounding skin. The first Australian podiatrist to offer the treatment is Paul W. Bours at the Institute of Surgical Podiatry in Sydney, Australia. Overseas the treatment costs between $1000 - $1200 US dollars depending on the provider.

Clinical studies have shown that the PinPointe FootLaser clears the fungal infection for most people after a single treatment. At the time of the procedure, the toenail will not become instantly clear as the old damaged nail needs to grow out. The treatment takes around 30 minutes and there is little or no discomfort.

Laser Hair Removal at Home by Tria

Until recently, laser hair removal has been limited to salons and spas. But now in 2010 the FDA has cleared a laser hair removal system that can be used at home.

This new system delivers lasting, hair-free results just like the professionals provide where you'd normally pay multiples more. It comes with five enhanced comfort settings to make each treatment more effective than the last. This is because the less hair you have the hotter you can have the laser setting.

The system includes the TRIA Laser hair removal device, skin sensor, and instructions for use. After charging the system, you have to activate it by either calling a phone number or over the internet. This only has to be done once and the device won't turn on until this step has been completed.

First, you'll need to ensure your skin is light enough to be treated. The skin sensor will turn green if your skin tone is in range. If it turns red, your skin is too dark and you can’t use it. Tria can't be used with darker skin because of the possibility of getting burned, scarred or blistered.

In the U.S., Juvéderm™ injectable gel is indicated for injection into the mid to deep dermis for correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds such as nasolabial folds.

The key ingredient of Juvéderm is hyaluronic acid which is a naturally occurring, biodegradable complex sugar found in the human body and in all living animals. Among other things, hyaluronic acid hydrates the skin and adds volume, contributing to the overall appearance of the skin.

As we age, the ability of cells to produce hyaluronic acid diminishes, often resulting in facial wrinkles and folds as the skin loses volume. Juvéderm is administered in small doses by intradermal injection directly into wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds, temporarily filling and augmenting the treated area.
