Dermatologists have been using Professional LED Omnilux products for more than 2 years to treat wrinkles and the effects of aging. This meant that until now LED therapy was only available in spas and clinics.
The Omnilux new-U is a new, clinically-proven LED (Light Emitting Diode) system designed to rejuvenate aging skin. The patented technology uses infrared light and stimulates collagen growth in the deeper skin tissues for a smoother, more youthful complexion.
The Omnilux new-U now uses the same LED technology but in a personal smaller version that's convenient for use at home.
In a study to determine the efficacy of the device at Weill Medical College of Cornell University, 7 out of 10 subjects reported a visible reduction in periorbital wrinkles and skin clarity after the recommended course of treatments.
The 22 subjects each received 8 light therapy treatments over a course of 4 weeks, using the Omnilux handheld LED system. An assessment of their skin grading was evaluated at weeks 6, 9 and 12 by a dermatologist. 74% of of the participants reported a visible improvement in fine lines and wrinkles at 8 weeks post treatment.
Using the device involves washing and drying skin thoroughly before each treatment. Goggles are included to cover the eyes to avoid damage from the bright light. The correct color LEDs are then chosen depending on the treatment session and the lens is placed in contact with treatment area, or within 1 cm of treatment area. Its then removed after the correct treatment time.
