BioTime, Inc. have announced the publication of a scientific paper titled "Spontaneous Reversal of Developmental Aging in Normal Human Cells Following Transcriptional Reprogramming." The article was released in the peer-reviewed journal Regenerative Medicine in advance of the print publication. It demostrates that aging of human cells can be reversed and may have significant implications for the development of new classes of cell-based therapies targeting age-related degenerative disease.

Using precise genetic modifications, normal human cells were induced to reverse both the "clock" of differentiation (the process by which an embryonic stem cell becomes the many specialized differentiated cell types of the body), and the "clock" of cellular aging (telomere length). As a result, aged differentiated cells became young stem cells capable of regeneration.

EA SPORTS Active was a huge hit on the Wii console in 2009, and now EA has announced that EA Sports Active 2.0 will be coming out later in 2010. As well as being on the Wii, it will also be available on the Playstation 3, iPhone and iPod touch.

It seems virtual training is taking off and improvements in the version include motion sensors on both arms and one leg so there's no need to hold any controllers. There's also a heart rate monitor which is built into the left arm sensor which will capture the workout intensity. The American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery has reported that more than 17 million cosmetic surgery procedures were performed in the US in 2009 which far surpasses any number that has been previously been reported. This is the first nationwide survey of its kind done by the AACS. In addition to the annual polling of its own members, the AACS also surveyed random physicians across the country to find out who is performing cosmetic surgery procedures.

Augmented reality is also known as AR. AR a live view of a physical real-world environment with an overlay of computer-generated imagery. It's main benefit is to allow people to find information without having to be in front of a computer using a search engine. By simply looking at the environment, certain information will appear depending on what it being looked at, and what the person has chosen to view. What is being looked at is determined by the GPS position and the direction is determined by a compass. Both of these are now available in most new smart phones.

What the person decides to view as an overlay can be thought of as layers. For example they might choose to see restaurants, public transport information or even prices of objects in a shop. These layers can be switched on one or many at a time. Other permanent layers might include a clock or the current temperature.
