The artificial lung is a prosthetic device which can either be implanted into the body or used externally to replace or assist the biological lungs.
The BioLung is an artificial lung that can replace the gas exchange function of a person’s natural lungs. Its designed to be used during recovery from injury or illness, or until donor lungs are available for transplantation. (Also known as a bridge to transplant). The BioLung is currently undergoing testing for FDA submission.
