Arms
DARPA is developing Proto 2 artificial arm. That arm is stronger, faster making more like a human limb. With more then 25 degrees of freedom it will be much more flexible. 80 individual sensory elements will provide sensory feedback of touch, temperature, and limb position. In May 2008 bionic arms that interface directly into the brain have been successfully tested on monkeys. This was the first documented use of a “brain- machine interface'’ to control a robotic limb. |
